Just a simple test I did earlier today to see how see-through an A2 sheet of 220gsm paper/ card was when help up to daylight. I had an idea to save money for the library by using simple sheets of folded paper, however it doesn't seem like this way will work.
I also had a chat with James down in print who mentioned that the thickest piece of card he's ever feeded through his printers is about 600 gsm, very thick. Thicker than I'm thinking about at the moment... but thats something to keep in mind.
